Cardi B Apologizes After Hosting 37-Person Thanksgiving Celebration

Despite the CDC's ask for Americans to celebrate Thanksgiving "at home with the people you live with," Cardi B hosted a huge Thanksgiving gathering with both her immediate and extended family over the long weekend.

The "WAP" rapper shared the news on Twitter Sunday (November 29), writing, "12kids and 25 adults over the holidays. It was lit !!"

Shortly after her post, Cardi was flooded with messages from fans and critics alike that called her out for not only hosting a large, ill-advised Thanksgiving celebration amidst a global pandemic but also for posting about it on Twitter after many Americans choose to follow the CDC advisory and not visit their families as to slow the spread of coronavirus.

"i hope it was worth it for you and those 25 adults and 12 kids. i truly hope it was because i can promise you it’s not worth it to everyone else who is affected by your poor choices aka the healthcare workers who you will run to when you’re sick," a Twitter user wrote. Another added, "Come on now. Share the sacrifice. Or don’t but at least keep it to yourself. [...] We are in a national crisis. Try harder."

Following the backlash, Cardi apologized, tweeting, "Sorry my bad wasn't trying to make nobody feel bad. I just had my family in my home for the first time and it felt so good & uplifted me."

The "La Bebe" rapper also noted that she took safety precautions before having her family over. "I spent soo much money getting every1 tested but it felt worth it," Cardi wrote, adding "I wasnt trying to offend no1."

The 28-year-old rapper later explained that she gets tested for COVID-19 multiple times a week. "ME specially and everyone that works around me get tested literally 4 times a week," she wrote. "Im In the middle of work and Everytime we clock in we MUST GET TESTED !"
