Frustrations continue to be vented across the state from people unsuccessful in their attempts to get the COVID vaccine.
Palm Beach County's health director explained the issue during a virtual town hall last night.
"The problem and the biggest hindrance in terms of getting them is the supply of the vaccine."
Dr. Alina Alonso with the Florida Department of Health says more than 105,000 people in the county have been vaccinated so far with limited amounts of doses coming in weekly.
She says community leaders need to build trust within minority groups about the vaccines, as a very low number of those getting the shots are minorities.
"The makeup of that, 75 percent of those are over the age of 65 and only 3 percent are black and about 4 percent Hispanic."
Infectious disease specialist Dr. Kitonga Kiminyo of JFK Medical Center North worked to conquer a myth that the two vaccines were created too quickly to work properly.
"While it seemed that it was produced quickly, it is no less efficient and no less safe."
