One person is dead and at least one other is in critical condition after a driver slammed into people at the start of the Wilton Manors Stonewall Parade and Festival. A third person was also reportedly injured in the parade just outside of Fort Lauderdale.

The driver of the truck who plowed into parade-goers was taken into custody. The Sun-Sentinel is reporting that the driver and the victims are allegedly all members of the Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus.

Officials have not said whether they believe the crash was intentional but the driver is reportedly saying his foot became stuck under the gas pedal.

The parade was canceled.

Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis witnessed the crash and said, "All of a sudden this white pickup truck dashed right through the crowd, barely missing Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz's car by inches, and just dashed through, smashed through a gate, smashed into a landscaping company and he hit two people on the ground."
