(Atlanta, GA) -- Tropical Depression Claudette is headed for the Peach State. Weather officials say Georgia could see heavy rains and high winds today, along with some tornados.

The storm, which has been developing in the Gulf of Mexico since the middle of last week, reportedly should pass through Georgia and into the Carolinas tonight.

Claudette is expected to produce heavy rains and flash flooding in parts of the Florida Panhandle and Alabama through Monday.

Claudette is forecast to become a tropical storm again as it passes off the Carolina coast.
